3 THINGS YOU SHOULD ALWAYS THRIFT

3 THINGS YOU SHOULD ALWAYS THRIFT

1) GLASS BOWLS

Aside from the fact that it’s 100% recyclable, glass in itself is just so multifaceted. Whether it’s mixing ingredient to your next Pinterest recipe or having something cute to put your keys in they’ll always be a home essential. The cool thing about thrifting these little babies is you never know what kind of funky treasures you’ll find. You may of course stumble on the “quintessential glass bowl” which is great but I’m usually searching for out of the ordinary. A scalloped edge, faceted glass is always a fun twist but if it comes on some kind of riser…9 times out of 10 it’s coming with me. Those are great for planters and If you’re a plant addict like myself you know how expensive those can retail for. As far as the home decor aspect I’ll usually put trays and glass bowls in the same category. Both perfect for containing all your goodies, making things look clean and intentional. I’m an organization freeaaak so I love having a specific spot for EVERYTHING. (but seriously) and if it breaks make a mosaic…lol Here are also some other idea’s on how to upcycle your broken glass as it’s considered hazardous and can’t then be recycled.

2) WICKER BASKETS

Ok, ok so I don’t always thrift wicker baskets but I’d say a good 70% of the time. (Which I think is pretty solid.) This could very well be my favorite thing to thrift for the house. Wickers overall aesthetic is completely mirrored with my modern boho style so I have several pieces. I use them to store my scarves, scrunchies, hats , memories…and if you feel like being extra line them up with an old crochet for more support. I love giving New Life to things that were otherwise cast aside, maybe it’s partly that inner voice in me constantly rooting for the underdog. (Who knows) Throw those guys up on the wall and make yourself a masterpiece gallery wall filled with texture.

3) VASES

Seriously…Do Not Waste your money on buying new vases. Especially clear glass ones, there’s an abundance of them at most thrift shops. Really what I look for is a cool body, it can be an odd color or have some kind of awkward detail that no one wants but the body is Everything. I once found the most perfect little vase to house my mini cactus but alas it was a fugly brown color. Did that stop me you ask? NO. I painted her white and so she made a happy home for my spiky friend. Now don’t get me wrong, I’ve found some amazing ones as is. A few of my favs in the photo above. If you don’t know what kind of vase you need but just that you need one then go thrift! Go find your Unexpected Treasures.
